Scoutmaster Conference/Board of Review
What you need to know about Scoutmaster Conferences/Boards of Review.
A Scoutmaster Conference (SC) is a meeting between the Scoutmaster and a scout to see if he is ready to take a Board of Review for a rank he is achieving. A SC is made by appointment, usually after a troop meeting.
A Board of Review (BR) is a meeting between an adult leader other than the Scoutmaster and a scout to test him on knowledge about a meritbadge (mb)/rank he is achieving. BRs are required for ranks after a SC for ranks and after a meritbadge's requirements have been completed. It is highly advised that a scout review the material of the rank/mb before participating in a BR. BRs can be taken for the ranks of Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class, as well as all meritbadges* on the first Tuesday of the month at the troop cabin at 7:30 PM. BRs for ranks Star and Life must be made by appointment. Contact Mark Siegle for Star boards and Tom Shay for Life boards. Eagle boards must be made with the District Eagle Board Chairman.
* BRs for meritbadges taken at camp can be done on Saturday and Sunday at the end of the camp week.
