Willistown Troop 78

Traditional Boy Scouting in Willistown, Pennsylvania Since 1930

Willistown Troop 78 is one of the Boy Scout Troops of the Diamond Rock District which is part of the Chester County Council. The troop was first charted in 1930  making us 80 years old. Our sponsor is the Upper Main Line VFW Post 5203 of Paoli and Friends of Troop 78 INC. .

Presently there are over 70 active Scouts. The Troop is divided into six patrols of 10 to 12 Scouts. The Staff is the experienced, older Scouts of the Troop. Once a month Troop Leaders' Committee has a meeting to plan for the next month's activities. Troop Leaders' Committee consists of the patrol leaders, the staff, and the Scoutmaster.

As you can see Troop 78 is a Scout run troop. Which is also demonstrated by this website which was created by a scout and maintained by a current scout. The Scouts plan and execute their own program. With the help of several Scouters and parent participation the Scouts are well supported. Troop 78 has a year round outings program. Every month there is an overnight outing planned and two long term outings a year. This rigorous outing program helps to keep all the Scouts active in the Troop, plus provides the Scouts with a opportunity for fun, new skills and advancement.

YOU - GET A NEW MUG!

As part of our "green camping" initiative, Troop 78 is making available insulated, 16 oz. mugs. These mugs, featuring the Troop's loon logo, are perfect for both hot and cold beverages, and can be used for cereal and soup. The mug is the perfect camping accessory, and we're encouraging all Troop members - Scouts and adults - to purchase a mug. Price is a most reasonable $5 each. Even if you're not a camper, these mugs are great for coffee, tea and hot chocolate. They're available at the Cabin. See Mr. D. with exact change and pick up a new mug at the next meeting!

Uniform Exchange
Just a reminder to check the uniform exchange for long pants if yours do not fit this season. Contact Jeanne Eberhart to see if she has any “experienced” uniform shirts or pants in your size. Remember to donate what you’ve outgrown by bringing it to the cabin to send home with Noah Eberhart. Recommendation: If you have to buy the Scout crew socks (short ones) for your winter uniform, skip the cotton ones and buy the green hikers with the red trim. They cost a little more, but they are warm enough to wear in winter weather.
